New update — Smart Search now understands collection types. You can search by what a specimen is, not just what it is called — radioactive, fluorescent, pseudomorphs, meteorites, fossils, organics, type locality, antique labels, gem crystals, floaters, rare minerals, new discoveries, magnetic, analysed.
"Or" now works everywhere — radioactive or fluorescent minerals, Devon and Cornwall — and it all combines: fluorescent minerals from Weardale does exactly what you'd hope.
And the big one — Saved Searches. Any search can be saved, including one that finds nothing today. The moment a matching specimen is listed, you get told. Hunting something impossible? Save it and let e-Rocks do the waiting.

We have added a newer version of smart search with more capabilities and better reasoning, giving better accuracy for different properties.
We also added filters and ordering, plus made smart search available to saved searches.
Saved search is coming to the e-Rocks app in the next release in a few days.
As part of the program of adding new features to e-Rocks during the Summer we have just added a Beta version of our new "Smart Search."
Smart search currently sits within the "quick search" text input box on the top right of every page on e-Rocks. Currently you can search by:
- Keyword, eg Fluorite or Weardale
- Item #, eg SHS1234567
- Joined Terms, eg Dioptase & Calcite from Tsumeb.
Smart search expands the search capability gives more intuitive results through our data.
Try these examples:
- Zeolites from India — every available zeolite-group species from Indian localities
- Sulphides from the UK — sulphide-class minerals from British localities
- Manganese minerals — species containing manganese
- Tourmaline — the whole group, with the varieties/species in front of schorl etc.
- Pegmatite Minerals from Pakistan - Environment driven - note minerals like fluorite have several environents
- Paulkerrite group minerals - you'll be lucky, but groups series and supergroups should all work
- Copper bearing arsenate minerals - it is really interesting how we can get things surfaced!

Smart Search understands both spellings (barite or baryte, haematite or hematite), copes with the odd typo — Currently in Beta we are only showing Available and just Sold items.
As it is a beta — you'll see a small Smart Search Beta tag on results that used it.
