Description

This old copper mine is a low-temperature hydrothermal mineralisation within Carboniferous limestones of the Peñamayor Limestone. The ore is mainly tetrahedrite, sometimes also Chalkopyrite. Tetrahedrite is present in small quartz veins, and - very rarely you can find this exceptional pseudomorph cast, where Tetrahedrite is replcaed by Azurite or / and Malachite. The mine is defunct, this material was found over a decade ago, the discovery included only about 20 specimen and Viamineralia was able to acquire all of them. In this auction we introduce some of the best. Only a few localities world-wide produced similar material - this pseudomorph cast is an out-standing rarity and didn´t come again from El Coriellu.
