Description

Deep red trapezohedral almandine crystal with lustrous striated faces, with a contact to the matrix at the rear. Found at the Kamiaba region, a very remote locality near the border with Zambia. Uncommon locality in collections, that has never been abundant at all.

Collected before 1960, the specimen is from the stock of Robert Verdoodt, who was working in the laboratories of Union Minière du Haut-Katanga and evacuated to Belgium in 1960 after the beginning of the Congo crisis, with his handwritten label.
