Description

On an aggregate of reddish-toned gypsum crystals, we can see a series of red Quartz crystals (compostela hyacinth variety) very well finished and even doubly terminated, of great beauty and showiness.

One of the main and most important Spanish deposits where to locate the so-called "Jacintos de Compostela", which can be dipyramidal crystals, forming "pineapple" or "ball" aggregates, or loose on a matrix, is the keuper of the city of Chella, outcrop where there is a large amount of hematoid gypsum with red clays, and among them we can observe hematoid quartz of the variety commonly called "Jacinto de Compostela", which appears forming geodes, forming "pineapples" as shown in this characteristic piece of this deposit o loose among the gypsum matrix, a sample in which we can observe scattered crystals of red quartz of the "Jacinto de Compostela" variety, which have a vitreous luster, some translucent crystals and others opaque, and a trigonal crystal system. A beautiful piece of this important and unique deposit of this type of quartz.
