Description

Beautiful and highly interesting specimen with a large deep blue benitoite single crystal of deep blue color and high luster. The benitoite crystal reaches a notable size of 2.4 centimeters. Remarkable are several ideally formed djurleite crystals, which are very rarely seen in good crystals from this deposit. The largest djurleite, which sits freely formed on a light background next to the benitoite, reaches a crystal size of 0.6 centimeters. Several other crystals of good formation are found directly on the benitoite crystal, one of which has a light blue coating of an unidentified secondary copper mineral, giving the whole specimen a special look. Beautiful specimen with a large benitoite crystal accompanied by several ideally formed djurleite crystals.

The specimen comes from the collection of Dr. Gerhard JUNG, who received the specimen from B. ROWLEY in 1971. The label shown belongs to the specimen and is included.
