Description

This is possibly the best known and investigated argentojarosite specimen ever found.

It is a matrix specimen richly covered with well-formed crystals. The crystals have a clear structure and are firmly attached to the matrix. This significantly distinguishes this sample from the powdery crystal fragments that are known. This is a specimen of the highest quality.

The specimen comes from the Field Museum of Natural History, Chicago (spec. #EJ0866). It was then added to the collection of Martin Jensen, who wrote the label and subsequently analyzed and verified the specimen. In addition to argentojarosite, jarosite is also present on the specimen.

This is an outstanding specimen of this mineral with first-class provenance, and the specimen has also been analysed.

Finally, it should be mentioned that this specimen is the first image shown in the mineral database mindat when searching for argentojarosite.
