Description

Here is a well-formed and large struvite single crystal. The single crystal is all-around ideally formed showing the typical creamy colour. The crystal measures exactly 1 centimetre in length, which is well above average in any case.

Such large and well-formed crystals of struvite are rarely seen.

A beautiful single crystal from the type locality, found during the foundation work for St. Nicholas Church in Hamburg in 1846.

The specimen comes from the collection of Dr. G. Jung including an old copy regarding struvite taken from “Handbuch der Mineralogie” from Dr. Carl HINTZE.
