Description

This fluorite displays an astonishing blue-transparent color, with edge lengths of up to 1.6 cm. This blue ranks among the finest shades of the Weisseck fluorites. The surfaces exhibit a matte, silky luster with subtle stepped edge growth. On the reverse side, bright calcite crystals are present. An excellent specimen – nearly fully crystallized except for a small area.

The locality is very dangerous: the limestone is shattered in all directions by frost, and large rock blocks are loosely stacked. The mineral collector must crawl beneath the stones and exercise extreme caution in selecting specimens to prevent the “house of cards” from collapsing. With a bit of luck, the reward is an exceptional fluorite distinguished by its fantastic color and transparency.
