Description

This is a very rich specimen of the rare hydrated aluminum-iron phosphate cacoxenite, here represented in tiny fans of radial acicular crystals (crystals are never large). The specimen comes from the famous old time iron mine Rotläufchen near Waldgirmes, Hesse. This mine was abandoned in 1905 and consequently it is more and harder to get hold of good items from the locale. This piece comes from the systematic collection of Albert Strasser and was acquired in 1981. The original collection label is included.
