Description

A nice, very rare (!) specimen of Roeblingite in Hancockite, from the type locality, at the Franklin Mine, in New Jersey.

Roeblingite is only found at one other locality worldwide.  The Roeblingite here occurs as a cherty coconut mass in Hancockite, with what may be some sort of alteration to to the left side turning more white.  We are unsure if there are any other associated minerals present.

The Roeblingite does show a cherry red fluorescent reaction under shortwave UV light, as it should, but it was too difficult to capture well

Though very small, Roeblingite is the holy grail of Franklin minerals and great for any systematic collector looking to check this off their list
