Description

This superb specimen features a remarkably well-defined, large solitary almandine crystal set against a contrasting matrix of silvery-grey mica schist. Recovered from the metamorphic terrains of Harstad, the crystal exhibits the classic isometric habit with sharp faces and clean edges.
​The almandine displays a deep, dark brownish-maroon colouration and is opaque, giving it a substantial presence. The dark, saturated tones are powerfully accentuated by the reflective, foliated texture of the surrounding mica schist, which provides a brilliant, shimmering backdrop.
