Description

Chenevixite is a copper-iron arsenate that forms as a secondary mineral in the oxidation zone of copper deposits. The mineral was named in 1866 in honor of the Irish chemist Richard Chenevix (1774–1830), who was one of the first to investigate the chemical composition of copper-iron arsenates from Cornwall. There, the mineral forms earthy, compact masses of an olive-green color.
