Description

Cumengeite is a halide mineral primarily known for its spectacular color and unique crystal forms. Cumengeite is famous for a special form of epitaxy (oriented overgrowth) with the mineral boleite. In this process, square cumengeite pyramids grow on each of the six faces of a boleite cube. The result is a striking, star-shaped crystal, unique in nature. This sample also shows the cumengeite forming a star together with boleite.
