Description

Exceptional cetineite on matrix from the classic Le Cetine di Cotorniano Mine, Chiusdino, Siena Province, Tuscany, Italy. The specimen features vivid orange to golden-yellow acicular cetineite crystals forming a striking radiating spray within a small cavity. The crystals show excellent luster and sharp needle-like morphology, creating a highly aesthetic micromount display.

Cetineite is a rare copper–calcium sulfate mineral, known for its distinctive acicular habit and intense coloration. Well-developed specimens are scarce and are mainly associated with a small number of Italian localities, with Le Cetine being the type locality and by far the most important source. Material from this mine is highly sought after due to its crystallographic quality and historical significance.
