Description

Bright honey-brown to yellowish scheelite crystals scattered on a pale matrix from the classic Zinnwald mining district in Saxony, Germany. The crystals are well formed, showing sharp crystal edges and good transparency to translucency, with a vitreous to slightly resinous luster.

Scheelite is a calcium tungstate and a major tungsten ore mineral. The Zinnwald district is historically important for tin and tungsten mineralization, and scheelite from this locality typically occurs as small but well-developed crystals on quartz-rich matrix, often associated with greisen-type mineralization.

This specimen represents a classic German scheelite occurrence, appreciated for its color contrast, crystal definition, and well-documented locality.
