Description

An oddity from old Dr. Krantz stock: A glass flask containing black ilmenite var "iserine" sand from river alluvials. The Riou Pezzouliou is a small brook which runs on the right side of the La Borne river. It is well known since the Middle-Age for alluvial gem-quality sapphires and zircons.

I did not open it because it would be difficult without damaging the corc stopper. Size and weight is given for the glass flask incl. content. The sticker means: "Fèr oxyduli titanifère du Riou Pezzouliou, Haute-Loire" (Titaniferous iron oxyde [= ilmenite] from Riou Pezzouliou, Haute-Loire). Comes with additional, stamp-like label.
