Description

This is a well-defined baryte on matrix from the famous Clara Mine, Black Forest, Germany. The specimen shows sharp, transparent to translucent tabular crystals with excellent edge definition and a bright glassy luster. Several larger blades rise prominently from the matrix and display subtle honey-brown iron staining, while numerous smaller crystals densely cover the base and create a strong three-dimensional appearance. The Clara Mine is renowned for its complex hydrothermal mineralization and extraordinary species diversity, and quality baryte specimens from this locality remain highly sought after. A solid and characteristic piece from one of Germany’s most important classic localities.
