Description

Thin slice of muscovite from Brazil. This specimen represents a section of a well-developed muscovite crystal, showing the mineral’s characteristic perfect basal cleavage, which allows it to be split into extremely thin, flexible sheets. Historically, such sheets were indeed used as window panes before the widespread availability of glass, due to their transparency and heat resistance. The plate displays natural inclusions and internal features that document its growth and formation. An interesting and educational mineralogical piece that highlights the classic properties of this important mica mineral.
