Description

Excellent set of seven different diopside crystals from Tyrol, Austria. The crystals display the typical elongated prismatic habit with vertical striations and range in color from pale green to deeper, more saturated green tones, with some pieces showing natural zoning and slight iron staining. Each crystal has its own individual character in size, clarity and surface structure, making the group visually diverse and mineralogically interesting. Today the classic Tyrolean occurrences are largely collected out, and well-formed individual crystals have become increasingly difficult to obtain. This set represents the variety and characteristic appearance of Tyrolean diopside very well.
