Description

A very well preserved ammonite from the Dogger, Callovian stage, France. The specimen displays the classic coiled shell with clearly visible ribbing and growth structures that are characteristic for Jurassic ammonites.

The preservation is excellent, allowing all morphological details of the shell to be easily recognized. The warm natural coloration further highlights the ribbed structure and gives the fossil a particularly appealing appearance.

Ammonites from the Callovian represent marine life from the Middle Jurassic, when large parts of present day Europe were covered by shallow seas rich in diverse cephalopod fauna. This example is both aesthetically pleasing and scientifically representative, making it a striking fossil and a real eye catcher.
