Description

An impressive matrix specimen of cassiterite from China. The piece features a bright, crystallized barite matrix that hosts a large and visually striking aggregate of cassiterite crystals.

The cassiterite crystals are well developed and display a deep black coloration with a strong metallic to submetallic luster. Their sharp faces and reflective surfaces create a beautiful contrast with the pale barite crystals beneath them, giving the specimen a very balanced and aesthetic appearance.

Cassiterite, the primary ore mineral of tin, commonly forms in hydrothermal vein deposits and granite related systems. Well crystallized specimens like this, especially when contrasted with a light matrix such as barite, are highly desirable among collectors. The size of the cassiterite aggregate combined with the overall aesthetics makes this a particularly attractive display piece for any mineral collection.
