Description

Excellently prepared, largely flawless garnet crystals of the almandine variety sit in quartz-bearing, metamorphic mica schist from the Zillertal in the Hohe Tauern, Austria. They measure a maximum of approx. 20 mm and are sharp-edged with a lustrous sheen.  This beautiful specimen shows a delicate red tinge, so we can assume that these are mixed crystals between almandine and pyrope.

On the reverse side there are localised, blue, radiant kyanites.
