Description

Cluster of grossular crystals, one clearly dominant, with very good greenish yellow colour and intense vitreous lustre, formed by a rhombic dodecahedra, with the edges beveled by icositetrahedral faces. Grossular is a common variety of garnet, but this specimen is from the Akhtaragda River Mouth, the type locality for the species. Floater undamaged piece. 

Acquired in 1993, it is an Ex. Johan Muizebelt specimen.
