Description

Well-formed yellow sulphur crystals of resinous lustre on a volcanic porous matrix. At the crater of the Teide volcano, that is the highest elevation of Spain, sublimated sulphur was exploited for more than 400 years, between 1511 and 1945. Now it is a National Park since 1954, and collecting is not allowed. That makes this old specimen very special, hard to get.

Acquired in 09/1973 to Jean Pierre Picquart. Ex Gustaf collection #1458, with his handwritten label.
