Description

Bicoloured cluster of quartz crystals with amethyst base and translucent top. This is an almost idealy developed artichoke quartz. Each of its rhombohedral faces carries another rhombohedral "face" at its center that looks like a mosaic of triangles, as it is made of even more sprouting crystal tips. Note also that the edges between the rhombohedral faces tend to stand out as frames above the faces as it is typical for skeleton quartz, indicating fast growth.

The sample was collected in the middle 1960’s by Professor Albert Delvaux (1919-1998). They were labelled as “Rwanda”, but we have been able to assign “Kirengo” as the most probable locality, based on identical specimens located in The Royal Museum for Central Africa (Tervuren, Belgium). The sample was collected in the middle 1960’s by Professor Albert Delvaux (1919-1998).
