Description

Aggregate of sharp and well-formed crystals of gypsum of a light pinkish-orange colour. Some crystals are twinned, and show blueish fluorescence under long UV, and whitish fluorescence under short UV. Specimens from Cabo Verde are extremely rare in collections. It has been a very nice surprise to me when I found it this summer in the old Salt mines of Pedra de Lume, that were worked since 1805, inside the big crater of Pedra de Lume volcano. Up to now, gypsum was unknown in these saltworks.

Collected in August/19th/2025 by Iván Blanco.
