Description

A good size specimen from the El Hoyazo Volcano featuring numerous deep purplish-red trapezohedral garnets of up to 6 mm, associated to purplish blue cordierites. These rocks are xenoliths of a cordierite/sillimanite gneiss, deep under the volcano, that were broken off during the rise of the dacitic magma. Nice representative specimen with the sawn base.

Collected by Dorsan Vanpoel in the early 1990’s.
