Description

Amazing 2 Kg quartz boulder of almost 20 cm that was clearly eroded by a stream. One of the faces was open to expose a nice crack, richly filled by radial aggregates of royal blue azurite crystals, and fan-like groups of light blue tyrolite crystals. It was labelled as linarite (label attached to the rear), but as it can be seen in the analyses they are azurite. We analyzed it with an Hitachi X-MET8000 XRF analyzer, that provides also great analysis of light elements (Mg, Al, Si, P, S, Cl). Austrian tyrolite and azurite are not rare but such stunning piece from Kundl is really a rarity.

Found before 1973. Ex Albert van Hee; Ex Paul van Hee.
