Description

Around two years ago, a world-class find of rare copper nitrate minerals including gerhardtite, rouaite, buttgenbachite, and likasite was made at the Tenke Copper mine in the Tenke-Fungurume District, Lualaba, Democratic Republic of the Congo. This small find yielded the best-even specimens of these very rare minerals by an order of magnitude, and I am pleased to have recently acquired some very nice and fairly inexpensive examples of this important find.
This large specimen features fairly abundant vivid blue-green gerhardtite with minor altered blue buttgenbachite and possible likasite? (azurite-blue mineral) in massive red cuprite matrix. A very nice and quite rich example of these very rare minerals!
