Description

Fine micromount of tapiaite from the Jote deposit in Chile, a classic locality for rare copper sulfates and other secondary minerals.
The specimen displays delicate radiating sprays and star-shaped clusters of extremely thin acicular crystals. The needles are translucent to nearly transparent, showing a very pale pink to faint lilac coloration, with a silky to vitreous luster that gives them a light, sparkling appearance under the microscope.
The crystal aggregates are perched on an ochre-brown to beige, finely granular matrix, locally covered with tiny whitish microcrystals. Some groups form well-developed three-dimensional rosettes, while others spread as interlaced needle networks, producing a remarkably refined texture.
Tapiaite is a rare species, and this specimen exhibits a particularly aesthetic and well-defined crystal habit, characteristic of the best micromounts from Jote and highly appreciated by advanced collectors.
