Description

The imiterite occurs as elongated prismatic crystals, steel-gray in color with a very bright metallic luster, commonly arranged in parallel bundles or intergrown clusters. Well-defined faces and strong longitudinal striations give the crystals a highly graphic and sharply crystalline appearance.

Nearby, a vivid red cinnabar crystal provides a spectacular color contrast, characteristic of the hydrothermal silver-bearing veins of Imiter. The cinnabar shows an adamantine to sub-metallic luster and an intense scarlet hue, beautifully enhanced by the milky white quartz host.

This association is emblematic of the Imiter deposit, world-renowned for its rare species and for being the type locality of imiterite, a mineral of major scientific interest and high desirability for advanced micromineral collections.
