Description

Fossil amber from the Hukawng Basin, Kachin State, Myanmar (Burma), Lower Cretaceous (~99 Ma).
The resin displays a beautiful honey-yellow to orange colour and is highly transparent, containing several exceptionally preserved biological inclusions.

Visible inside are (probability):

A large beetle (probably a primitive Staphylinidae or Curculionoidea), recognizable by its elongated body, well-defined thorax and dark elytra. Antennae and parts of the legs are still discernible, showing outstanding three-dimensional preservation.

A small mite (Acari), identified by its rounded body and eight delicate radiating legs. Such inclusions are of great palaeoecological importance, documenting early arthropod communities in resin-producing tropical forests.

Additional micro-inclusions (plant debris, possible exuviae fragments, or tiny juvenile arthropods), visible as dark or amber particles scattered within the resin.

Altogether, this specimen represents a frozen snapshot of a Cretaceous tropical forest micro-ecosystem, with organisms trapped alive in flowing resin, making it both scientifically valuable and visually striking.
