Description

Outstanding aggregate of antlerite from the Serrabottini deposit, Sardinia (Italy), composed of well-individualized tabular to prismatic crystals displaying a deep emerald-green to bottle-green color. The crystals form dense crystalline carpets lining a cavity, with sharp faces, well-defined edges, and a strong vitreous to silky luster, typical of copper sulfates formed in the oxidation zone of ore bodies.

The antlerite is set on a matrix rich in brown to rusty iron oxides and pale siliceous crusts, providing a striking color contrast that enhances the vivid green of the crystals.
