Description

Outstanding specimen of dawsonite from the Limoncino locality, Italy, displaying superb spherical aggregates with a perfectly radial fibrous structure, ranging from snowy white to delicate pastel pink. The crystals form fluffy hemispherical balls and rosette-like clusters composed of extremely fine acicular needles arranged in a radiating pattern, giving the specimen a silky, cotton-like appearance of remarkable delicacy.

The dawsonite lines cavities within a light siliceous–carbonate matrix locally stained by iron oxides and greenish clay minerals, producing a subtle contrast between lilac, milky white, and beige-ochre tones. Such color variations, from translucent pale pink to pure white, are characteristic of the Limoncino occurrence, which is regarded as one of the most aesthetic worldwide for this rare species.
