Description

Spectacular micromineral specimen featuring well-developed pseudo-cubic crystals of perovskite (CaTiO₃) displaying strong metallic luster and vivid blue to violet surface iridescence, caused by thin alteration films. The sharply formed crystals, with distinct growth striations, are set in a complex silicate–carbonate matrix showing honey-brown to translucent tones, possibly associated with titanite and other calc-silicate skarn minerals.

The excellent crystal morphology and striking color contrasts make this specimen highly aesthetic. Val Varenna is a classic Alpine locality for perovskite, renowned for producing well-crystallized examples in calcium- and titanium-rich skarns formed by high-temperature metasomatic processes.

A top-quality specimen for advanced micromineral collections, perfectly illustrating the crystal chemistry and typical habit of Alpine perovskite.

In a box 2.8x2.8cm, labelled
