Description

This specimen exhibits superb connellite Cu₁₉Cl₄(SO₄)(OH)₃₂·3H₂O forming deep ultramarine-blue botryoidal aggregates lining a cavity in the host rock. The globules display a smooth to silky luster, with locally visible radiating acicular microcrystals revealing the internal fibrous structure. Whitish crusts and associated microcrystals (likely aurichalcite or Cu–Zn carbonates) indicate formation in an advanced oxidation environment.

The Madonna di Fuciniai locality in Italy is famous for intensely colored secondary copper minerals, and especially for connellite occurring as vivid blue botryoidal spheres, a morphology much rarer than the usual needle-like sprays
