Description

Large and highly representative historic specimen from the uranium district of Margnac (Haute-Vienne, France), showing a classic association of secondary uranium phosphates: sabugalite (dominant no reaction to the UVs) with autunite tablets on the outer zones.

The central part of the specimen consists of a compact mass of bright lemon-yellow sabugalite, made of tightly packed lamellar to tabular aggregates, typical for the species. Around the edges, well-formed tabular autunite crystals occur as small clusters and peripheral coatings, showing yellow to yellow-green tones on the matrix.
