Description

Beautiful micromount featuring bright green torbernite crystals forming rosettes and small lamellar aggregates typical of this hydrated uranium phosphate. The crystals display a vivid emerald-green color with well-defined crystallization, standing out strongly against the rusty iron-rich matrix.

The torbernite is associated with phosphuranylite, occurring as tiny bright yellow acicular crystals that partially coat and surround the green torbernite aggregates. This association of uranium minerals creates an attractive contrast between the intense green and bright yellow tones.

The specimen sits on a matrix composed mainly of quartz with iron oxide alterations, characteristic of the famous uranium deposit of Krunkelbach (Menzenschwand), Black Forest, Germany, a classic locality for secondary uranium minerals.
