Description

Covering the dark matrix, an abundant crystallization of parsonsite forms radiating sprays of honey-yellow to golden tabular crystals.

The crystals are elongated and bladed, commonly arranged in diverging sprays and fan-like aggregates that intergrow to create a dense and visually striking structure. Their variable transparency and vitreous to pearly luster highlight fine striations visible on some crystal faces.

The richness of the crystallization is remarkable: numerous well-developed crystals densely cover the specimen, producing a highly dynamic appearance typical of the best occurrences from this locality.

The uranium deposit of Lachaux is a classic French locality for parsonsite, where this lead-uranium phosphate can form beautiful yellow bladed aggregates within cavities of the host rock.

This specimen represents a particularly rich and impressive example illustrating the characteristic habit of the mineral.
