Description

Spectacular group of native sulphur crystals on a pyrite matrix, some also containing covellite crystals.
These covellines appeared in the Gossan de Resto Alfredo mine waste in the Riotinto Mines. Very good specimens were once found when some old galleries were cut during the English mineworks.

This particular piece was found in August 2025 when I had the honor of being invited along with my wife to visit the entire mining area accompanied by the person in charge of controlling the blasting that takes place there daily. It was a great experience that brought back memories of when my father and I worked in blasting at the mines in Alicante.
