A large and heavy specimen of beautiful shimmering peppermint green to white smithsonite formed in botryoidal crystalline masses over a typical hard Tsumeb carbonate matrix.
The surface of the specimen shows a lustrous aggregation of tiny crystal terminations and facets with snow white blotches spread randomly over. In places there is surface banding of the whitish residue clearly involved in the paragenesis but the origin is uncertain.
Overall a very fine aesthetic specimen of Tsumeb smithsonite of this habit.
The specimen comes with Warren Taylor’s original label and displays Cors De Bruin’s own pasted number label on one side. Unfortunately Warren Taylor did not preserve the original Cors De Bruin collection labels but transcribed the origin into his own catalogue hence the noted level was level 12.
