Based near Nottingham, Alan Peckover has been a keen field collector and explorer active across the United Kingdom throughout the last 40+ years.
His interest began in the 1970s and through his membership of the Russell Society has visited many sites now restricted or otherwise lost to field collecting.
His collection of around 2500 pieces includes suites from many of these places, particularly strong in his more local area, eg Derbyshire and Leicestershire.
Though mostly self-collected the collection includes many pieces purchased or swapped through connections within the hobby.
There is no specific catalogue for the collection, however each specimen is accompanied with a detailed label with mineral and locality information.
The collection represents an interesting insight into the UK localities and minerals that have been producing from the 1970s to present.
Although Alan has sold his main collection he will be maintaining his interest in collecting and UK minerals.
