Description

Eglestonite is a rare mercury chloride and specimens from any worldwide locality are very rare.

This specimen hosts tiny, lustrous, brown crystals of eglestonite - named after Thomas Egleston who founded the School of Mines at Columbia University in 1864 and was Professor of Mineralogy and Metallurgy until he retired in 1897.

Very rich specimen from a long time closed mine in Spain.

With gemmy clear crystallized calomel and minor mercury.
