Description

This aesthetic specimen features a dense, radial clusters of acicular gypsum crystals (var. selenite) anchored on a contrasting dolomite matrix. The crystals exhibit elongated, needle-like habit, converging to create a striking "hedgehog" formation. The crystals have a vitreous to silky luster.

Optical Properties and Inclusions
​The distinctive green colouration is not intrinsic to the gypsum itself but is the result of secondary copper mineral inclusions (likely malachite or atacamite). These minerals appear as delicate coatings and internal phantoms, providing a vivid saturation that highlights the individual terminations of the spray.
