Description

This striking specimen features a dense, radiating aggregate of elongated prismatic selenite crystals. The most captivating feature is its intense emerald-to-forest green colouration, which is caused by microscopic inclusions of secondary copper minerals (typically atacamite) trapped within the gypsum lattice during its rapid growth in the mine's environment.

The crystals exhibit a high degree of translucency, allowing light to permeate the cluster and highlight the delicate, needle-like (acicular) habits. Many of the crystals remain fully terminated, showcasing the pristine, untouched nature of the find. This "green gypsum" is a classic contemporary mineral staple, prized for its unique chemistry and vivid shelf presence.
