Description

This specimen showcases the intense, saturated colours that have made the Rudna Mine a world-class locality for covellite. The piece features a dense, metallic aggregate with a breathtaking indigo-to-neon blue iridescence. Unlike more common dull varieties, this specimen exhibits a vibrant, shimmering lustre that shifts between deep navy and bright azure depending on the angle of light. The covellite formed as a secondary mineral within the Kupferschiefer (copper shale) deposits. It appears here in a rich, massive crystalline form, occasionally displaying micro-foliated textures. The presence of such vivid blue colouration is a hallmark of high-purity copper sulfide mineralisation from this specific Polish mining district.
