Description

A high-quality specimen of blue halite from the Zechstein salt deposits of Central Poland. The vivid blue colouration is the result of structural defects within the crystal lattice (F-centres) caused by natural radiation, rather than chemical impurities. This specimen displays excellent translucency and a sharp, vitreous lustre. The colour distribution is characteristically zoned, showing intense sapphire-blue hues against a clear-to-white translucent background. The piece exhibits well-defined cubic cleavage planes, typical for this mineral species.
