Description

Well-defined Almandine Garnet crystal aesthetically perched on its original schistose matrix. The garnet exhibits a classic dodecahedral habit with a deep, saturated reddish-brown colour that appears nearly black under ambient light. The crystal faces are sharp and well-formed, displaying a characteristic sub-vitreous lustre.

The contrast between the dark, geometric garnet and the shimmering, micaceous host rock is exceptional on this beautiful museum-sized piece (18.2cm). The specimen is remarkably well-preserved, with the primary crystal (5.1cm) showing excellent structural integrity.
