Description

A rough piece of classic zinc blende from the now-closed Pomorzany mine in Olkusz is distinguished by the presence of sharp, cubic galena crystals (up to 7mm) on its top and a shimmering aggregate of fine-crystalline marcasite in the base. This piece remains entirely uncut, presenting natural surfaces that clearly display the characteristic sequence of cream, tan, and dark brown colour layers. The Galena exhibits a brilliant metallic lustre, while the surrounding matrix provides a textural contrast. Under 365 nm UV light, the specimen exhibits an intense orange to yellow fluorescence within specific bands of the concentric structure.
