Description

Calomel (horn mercury) is a mineral from the halide class with the chemical composition Hg₂Cl₂ (mercury(I) chloride). It is primarily known for its historical use in medicine and its importance in electrochemistry. Calomel darkens when exposed to light. Therefore, the specimen is stored in a black box to protect it from light and preserve its vibrant color.
